When the user calls a bank number, this malware forwards that call to the scammers.
Scammers, posing as bank representatives, can ask the user for account-related information.

According to the report of Zimperium, a cyber security firm, ‘Vishing’ technique is being used in this malware.
In Vishing, users are lured by resorting to fake phone calls or voice messages so that they share their banking details like credit card numbers, login credentials, etc.
This technique gives scammers an opportunity to obtain sensitive information from the user without suspecting him.
5. Fake interface of FakeCall
FakeCall uses a fake call interface, which looks exactly like the real call interface of Android. Because of this, the user does not realize that he is not making a real call to the bank, but is talking to scammers.
For this reason, it becomes difficult to detect this malware, because the user does not understand the difference.
6. How does installation and activation happen?
This malware mostly comes to the device through suspicious APK files or apps that are downloaded from unverified sources of Google Play Store.
When the user installs it, this malware asks for permission to set itself as the default dialer app. Once permission is granted, it starts the process of intercepting calls and controlling the device.
7. How is FakeCall spreading?
This malware is spreading through websites that look like fake Google Play Store.
According to the Zimperium report, 13 apps have been detected that spread this malware. However, their names have not been revealed yet.
