Delhi Police’s :-The Delhi Police Special Cell, a unit known for busting terror networks and gangsters across the country, is now caught in the middle of a shocking controversy. A huge theft has taken place — not from a public place or outside facility — but from inside its own Lodhi Colony office, right in the heart of Delhi.
📍 What Happened?
According to police sources, cash and gold worth crores of rupees have gone missing from the “malkhana” — a secured store room inside the Special Cell office. This malkhana is where seized items from criminal investigations (called “case property”) are kept safe until court trials are complete.
What makes the case even more alarming is that the theft was not committed by an outsider. An insider – a former staff member of the same Special Cell – is now the prime suspect.
🕵️ FIR Filed, Head Constable Under Suspicion
Delhi Police has filed an FIR and launched an investigation. During initial inquiries, the spotlight turned toward Head Constable Khurshid, who was earlier posted in the Special Cell and was in charge of the malkhana. Although Khurshid was later transferred to East Delhi, he allegedly used his past access and familiarity with the unit to carry out a carefully planned theft.
Police say that Khurshid entered the Lodhi Colony office multiple times, pretending everything was normal. Since he was a familiar face, no one found his presence suspicious.
🔐 Confession and Recovery
As the investigation progressed and security personnel were questioned, a pattern emerged — Khurshid had been making frequent visits to the premises. After being brought in for interrogation and facing tough questioning, Khurshid confessed to the theft.
So far, the police have recovered ₹50 lakh in cash and a significant quantity of gold from him. However, this is believed to be only part of the stolen items. The search is still on to find the remaining stolen property.
