Himachal Pradesh News:-In one of the worst natural disasters ever to hit Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, the region of Seraj has suffered massive destruction due to landslides and cloudbursts. Communication and road connectivity in many areas have been completely cut off, leaving thousands stranded. Authorities are working day and night to restore essential services and rescue operations.

🔧 Road Connectivity to Be Restored by 4th July Evening

During a press conference held in Mandi, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Apurv Devgan informed that the administration is making war-level efforts to reconnect the disaster-hit region. He assured that road access to Seraj will be restored by the evening of July 4.

Currently, over 250 landslides have been cleared to open the route up to Bagsyad, and the most affected area, Thunag, is expected to be reachable by tomorrow afternoon.

🚜 8 Heavy Machines Deployed

Eight machines have been deployed to clear the debris and reopen roads. Once the roads are accessible, relief items like food and medicine will be transported more easily to the affected villages. Electricity supply is also being restored, especially in vital buildings in Thunag, with the local substation now operational.

🚁 Relief Reaches via Helicopter and Mules

As roads in some areas are still completely damaged, Indian Air Force helicopters are being used to drop relief materials. In the more remote regions, mules are carrying food and supplies where vehicles cannot go.

🕯️ Casualties and Missing People

As per the latest information gathered from various sources:

  • 5 bodies have been recovered, and

  • 18 people are still missing.

  • Pakhrair: 11 people missing

  • Thunag: 5 people missing

  • Pandav Shila: 2 people missing

Recovered bodies:

  • Thunag: 1 body

  • Dhar Jarol: 2 bodies

  • Kelti: 2 bodies

The administration has 95% information about the affected people and is collecting the remaining data as quickly as possible.

🏕️ Relief Camps and Food Arrangements

Relief camps have been set up in multiple locations where affected families are being provided with food, shelter, and basic amenities. Special attention is being given to ensure proper care for elderly people, children, and women.

🧳 Tourists Also Affected, Safe Contact Established

More than 60,000 people, including tourists, have been affected by this natural calamity in the Seraj area. DC Devgan confirmed that contact has been made with the families of all stranded tourists. Some of them have already been sent back to their home states, and others will be moved as soon as the roads reopen.

🕯️ Death Toll and Estimated Losses

So far, the disaster has claimed 14 lives across Mandi district, with 5 deaths reported from Seraj alone. 31 people are still missing.

According to preliminary reports, the total estimated loss is around ₹115 crore. The administration expects the number to rise as complete reports come in.
