Maharashtra Crime News:-A shocking case has come to light from Jalna district in Maharashtra. A woman was allegedly held captive and chained by her own parents for two months because she had married outside her religion. The incident was uncovered after her husband approached the Mumbai High Court (Aurangabad Bench), which then directed the police to take action. Following the court’s orders, the police rescued the woman on Monday.
How the Incident Unfolded
The woman, identified as Shahnaz alias Sonal, had married a man from a different religion. The couple also has a three-year-old son. Two months ago, she visited her parents’ house in Alapur village, Bhokardan tehsil (Jalna district) along with her child. However, her parents, who were angry about her interfaith marriage, did not allow her to return to her husband. Instead, they allegedly chained her inside the house and kept her captive for two months.

Her husband made several attempts to bring her back, but each time, her family refused to let him meet her or even enter the house. Feeling helpless, he finally approached the Mumbai High Court’s Aurangabad Bench, seeking justice.
Police Action and Rescue
After receiving instructions from the High Court, a police team conducted a raid on the house and rescued Shahnaz and her son. The police confirmed that she had been kept in chains by her parents. However, as of now, no formal case has been registered against the parents. The police have stated that if the woman decides to file an official complaint, further legal action will be taken against her parents.
This incident highlights the challenges faced by individuals who choose to marry outside their religion, often facing strong opposition from their families. While the woman has now been freed, the legal course of action remains uncertain as authorities wait for her to file a formal complaint.
