Whenever there is talk of messaging app, the first name that comes to mind is WhatsApp. But now a big change is going to come in this market. Know about it?

Bitchat:-When we think of messaging apps, WhatsApp is usually the first name that comes to mind. But in the near future, it may no longer be the only popular option. That’s because Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, is working on a new and very different kind of messaging app — one that doesn’t even need the internet.
This new app is called Bitchat, and it uses Bluetooth technology instead of mobile networks or WiFi to send messages from one device to another.
📡 No Internet, No SIM, No Server Needed
What makes Bitchat unique is that it’s completely decentralized. It doesn’t rely on servers or cloud storage. Messages are sent directly from one phone to another via Bluetooth. This means:
-
No internet or mobile data is required
-
No SIM card or phone number is needed
-
No email address or sign-up is required
This makes it not only super convenient but also very private — there’s no tracking, no account, and no personal data collection.
📶 How Far Can It Work?
Since Bitchat uses Bluetooth, there’s naturally a limit to how far it can send messages — usually about 100 meters. That might not sound like much, but it can be very useful in situations like:
-
Trying to find friends in a crowded event where the mobile network is down
-
Sending messages when you’re offline or have no signal
-
Chatting privately without revealing your identity
But here’s the clever part — Dorsey says that Bitchat can extend its range up to 300 meters (almost 1,000 feet). It does this by using nearby devices to pass the message along, kind of like a human chain, until it reaches the recipient. This is known as peer-to-peer relaying.
🔐 Secure Group Chats & Offline Messaging
Bitchat also supports private group chats, which are called “Rooms”. These can be locked with a password, so only invited users can join.
Another powerful feature is “Store and Forward”. If a user is offline when a message is sent, the app can hold the message and deliver it later when they’re back online — still without needing the internet.
In the future, Dorsey plans to add WiFi Direct support to the app, which could make it even faster and increase the range further.
🛡️ Privacy First: No Data, No Tracking
One of the biggest concerns people have with apps like WhatsApp or Messenger (owned by Meta) is privacy. These platforms collect a lot of user data, including phone numbers, contacts, and location.
Bitchat, on the other hand, is built with privacy at its core. It doesn’t collect any personal data, doesn’t require you to create an account, and doesn’t store your chats on any server. Everything stays between devices.
🧪 Available for Testing Now
As of now, the beta version of Bitchat is available on TestFlight (Apple’s beta testing platform for iOS users). However, there’s no official date yet for when the full stable version will launch to the public.
In a world where data privacy is becoming more important, and where internet connectivity isn’t always reliable, Bitchat could be a game-changer. It offers a simple, secure, and private way to stay connected — even when you’re offline.
