CM Yogi:-Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and gave a new slogan, “Wherever SP is seen, daughters are scared”.

CM Yogi:-Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given a new slogan targeting the Samajwadi Party (SP), which has become a topic of discussion in the recent by-election campaign. His new slogan is “Jahan Dikhe SPai, Wahan Bitiya Ghabrai”. The slogan aims to present the image of SP as a party that creates a feeling of “insecurity”, especially for daughters.
CM Yogi gave this slogan during the campaign in the Meerapur assembly by-election in Muzaffarnagar. In his speech, he criticized the Samajwadi Party and said that during the SP rule from 2012 to 2017, “the car on which there was an SP flag, had goons sitting in it”. He said that the people of SP work to breach the safety of daughters and sisters. By using this slogan, Yogi Adityanath tried to give a message to the public against the SP that the safety of daughters remains in danger under the rule of SP.
Election strategy
Yogi Adityanath has earlier also tried to create an atmosphere in his favour by giving similar slogans on election platforms. Another of his popular slogans was, “If you divide, you will be cut, if you are one, you will be safe”. With this slogan, he gave a message to the Hindu voters to unite and told the people that their security lies in unity. The purpose of these slogans of Yogi Adityanath is to instill a sense of trust and security towards the party in the minds of the people, so that the political position of the BJP can be strengthened.
Answer to SP’s PDA formula
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has adopted the “PDA” (Backward, Dalit, and Minority) formula for the upcoming elections, under which the SP is trying to woo voters on the basis of caste. This slogan of CM Yogi is being seen as a counter to the PDA formula of the SP. The BJP is trying to give a message of Hindu unity and security in response to the caste politics of the SP.
BJP
With these slogans of CM Yogi, BJP once again seems to be returning to the agenda of hardcore Hindutva. After issues like construction of Ram temple, removal of Article 370 in Kashmir, BJP was looking for new election issues. That is why leaders like Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are mentioning religious places like Mathura, Kashi in their rallies, so that Hindu voters can be attracted.
Opposition’s response
However, opposition parties have reacted strongly to these slogans of CM Yogi. Leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and Asaduddin Owaisi have called it “negative politics”. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also criticized it and called it “the most negative in the history of India”. Opposition parties believe that such slogans spread hatred and fear in the society.
Impact on results
Only time will tell what impact this slogan of CM Yogi will have in the by-elections to be held on nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. But one thing is clear that this slogan has posed a new challenge for the Samajwadi Party. Yogi Adityanath is constantly referring to the “old history” of SP to increase public distrust towards SP and support for BJP. This can benefit BJP in creating an atmosphere against SP in the by-elections.
This slogan of Yogi Adityanath is part of BJP’s strategy, in which they want to give the message to the public that BJP is the symbol of security, whereas there is an atmosphere of “insecurity” under the rule of SP. In view of the by-elections and Lok Sabha elections, such slogans are trying to strengthen the Hindutva agenda of BJP, so that BJP can strengthen its vote bank.
