Valsad Railway Station Murder Case:-The rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl in Gujarat’s Valsad district has shocked the entire nation. The prime accused in the case, Rahul Karamveer Jat alias Bholu, has emerged as a serial killer and has made shocking revelations.
On the night of November 14, a girl’s body was found in a deserted spot a few metres away from the Valsad railway station. A black and white sweatshirt and a bag were lying near the body. This bag led the police to their first clue. The bag contained clothes, a mobile charger, and other items, which revealed that the accused was not a local resident but a traveller who had come by train.
The police investigation journey
The Valsad police began their investigation by scanning CCTV footage installed at railway stations. Over the next five days, the police scanned footage from around 5,000 CCTV cameras across four states. Eventually, a suspect was spotted, limping and wearing a black-and-white sweatshirt.
How did the police reach the accused?
After the suspect, Rahul Karamveer Jat, was identified, the police formed 10 teams to track him. These teams scanned CCTV footage of every railway station from Mumbai to Valsad. Rahul was spotted at Dadar station boarding a train headed to Bandra.
Rahul’s background and criminal history
Rahul is originally from Rohtak in Haryana. He suffered from polio as a child, which left him unable to walk properly. He was often bullied by other children in school. When he was in the fifth grade, he committed his first theft—a bicycle.
As a youth, he developed a passion for trucks, but was not allowed to drive one due to his disability. As a result, he started stealing trucks. From 2018 to 2022, 13 cases of truck theft were registered against Rahul in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

How was the girl killed in Valsad?
Rahul confessed that he followed a 19-year-old girl from Valsad station, who was returning from tuition. At a secluded spot, he forcibly dragged the girl to a mango orchard and raped her and then killed her.
After the murder, Rahul went back to the station, where he bought fruit drink and milk. Then, he went back to the spot, but by then the girl’s family had reached there. Seeing the family, he got scared and fled leaving his bag and sweatshirt behind.
How was the accused finally caught?
On November 24, the police received information that Rahul was on the Bandra-Bhuj train. The Valsad police waited for the train at Vapi station and arrested him. Three mobile phones were recovered from Rahul, two of which belonged to the murder victims.
What does the police say?
Valsad police chief Karanraj Vaghela said, “Rahul started committing crimes since childhood. He has committed many serious crimes ranging from truck theft to murder. This case was not only challenging for the police but is also a lesson for the society.”
