Voter list dispute:-These days, the issue of the voter list has become a major point of conflict between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Recently, a case regarding irregularities in the voter list was also brought to the Election Commission. In response, the Election Commission has decided to conduct a training program to educate party workers about election rules and procedures. BJP, TMC, and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have agreed to participate in this training.

Why is this training happening?

Earlier in the day, representatives from BJP, TMC, and BJD met the Election Commission to discuss their concerns about the accuracy of the voter list. Issues such as duplicate voter cards, repeated entries, illegal migrants, and names of deceased voters were raised. To address these concerns, the Election Commission has asked the political parties to send their booth-level agents, counting agents, and election agents for official training.

What will be covered in the training?

According to sources, the Election Commission has assured that all concerns related to duplicate voter cards, repeated names, illegal voters, and transferred or deceased voters will be resolved. This will be done with the active participation of booth-level officers and agents appointed by all political parties.

Election Commission’s Official Statement

The Election Commission, through a post on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), stated that they have informed TMC representatives about the steps being taken. They clarified that every political party’s booth-level agents will play an active role in the process of verifying and correcting voter lists.

This move by the Election Commission aims to increase transparency in the election process and prevent any voter list manipulation. With all three parties agreeing to participate, this training is expected to improve coordination between political agents and election officials.
