Weather Update:-Monsoon is still in full swing in most parts of India. This is the time for the monsoon to leave, but instead of bidding farewell, the rain has created an atmosphere of flood and devastation in most parts. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rains are falling in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand. Rain has disrupted the lives of people in many areas.
There is a threat of flood in Kushinagar and surrounding areas of Uttar Pradesh due to lakhs of cusecs of water released from Nepal. Many villages are in the grip of floods due to rising water level of Gandak and Narayani rivers. After heavy rains in Gorakhpur and Prayagraj, many areas have been waterlogged. The administration is trying its best, but relief work is facing difficulties due to continuous rain.
The havoc of floods is increasing in Bihar. Due to rain in the capital Patna and surrounding districts, the water level of the rivers is rising. There is a heavy rain alert in districts like West Champaran, East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. The administration has installed pumpsets to deal with waterlogging, but the situation is getting worse due to continuous rain.
Heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra
Rain has also wreaked havoc in Madhya Pradesh. Orange alert has been issued in 8 districts of the state, prominent among which are Alirajpur, Jhabua, Barwani, Mandsaur, and Indore. At the same time, yellow alert has been issued in 21 districts. Flood-like conditions have arisen in these districts due to heavy rains. Bridges and roads are flooded, due to which people are stranded in the villages. Sudden floods in Neemuch Police Line have damaged many houses.
Monsoon returns are quite strong in Maharashtra too. Mumbai, Pune, and surrounding areas are receiving heavy rains, causing waterlogging on the roads. The Meteorological Department has predicted that rain will continue for the next few days.
Rain havoc in South India and Northeast states
Heavy rains are also continuing in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. IMD has issued a heavy rain alert in these states for today i.e. 29 September. Apart from this, clouds are also raining heavily in Assam, Sikkim and other hilly areas of North East.
It is also raining in some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, which has increased the risk of landslides in the hilly areas.
Delhi-NCR weather
Monsoon has departed from Delhi-NCR on 27 September. However, there is a possibility of increase in temperature in the next few days. Delhi’s temperature may increase by 2 degrees in the week starting from Monday. According to IMD, humidity will not be felt due to moisture in the air, and there will be movement of clouds during the day.
The administration has intensified relief work in flood affected areas. Pump sets are being installed to drain out water in the areas affected by waterlogging. People have been advised to remain alert and move to safer places.
