Delhi Crime News;-A horrifying incident unfolded at the Kirby Place Bus Stand in the Delhi Cantonment area on Sunday night when a 19-year-old girl was brutally attacked with a knife by her friend. The accused, identified as Amit, later turned the knife on himself, resulting in serious injuries to both.
The attack occurred around 9:30 PM, when the girl was reportedly waiting at the bus stand. According to eyewitnesses and the Delhi Police, Amit suddenly approached the young woman and stabbed her multiple times in broad public view. The girl sustained severe injuries to her neck and left side of the abdomen, while Amit inflicted wounds on himself shortly after the attack.
Passersby immediately alerted the police and emergency services. Both the victim and the accused were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. As per the latest updates, both remain in critical but stable condition.
A Love Story Turned Violent
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Amit and the victim had been friends for the past year and were allegedly involved in a romantic relationship. However, their relationship had recently soured due to unresolved personal issues. As the girl began distancing herself, Amit reportedly became emotionally unstable.
Police officials believe that the attack was premeditated. “They had known each other for a year, but recently had a fallout. Unable to handle the rejection, Amit attacked her with a knife and later tried to harm himself as well,” said DCP Surender Chaudhary, South-West Delhi.
A video clip of the aftermath has also surfaced on social media, showing the blood-soaked duo sitting on a road divider, surrounded by a crowd of shocked onlookers. The 45-second clip is now being used as part of the ongoing investigation.
Legal Action Initiated
The Delhi Police has registered a case against Amit under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing, and officials are also examining CCTV footage from the area to get a clearer timeline of the incident.
The recovered knife has been sent for forensic examination. Meanwhile, statements from eyewitnesses and family members of both parties are being recorded to ascertain the motive and background of the attack.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern among local residents and netizens alike. Many have questioned the lack of public intervention during the attack and the ease with which such a violent act was carried out in a crowded public space.
“This is shocking and deeply disturbing. How can someone do this in public? And why are we still not doing enough to address mental health issues in relationships?” said a local resident.
