Hamas warns:-The conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to escalate, with both sides intensifying their positions. On Wednesday, Hamas issued a strong warning, stating that if Israel tries to forcibly rescue hostages or continues its attacks on Gaza, the remaining hostages could be killed.
Hamas Threatens to Kill Hostages
Hamas, which is holding several Israeli hostages, claimed in a statement that it is trying to keep them alive. However, the group accused Israel of endangering their lives by continuing its military operations in Gaza. The statement further warned, “Every time Israel attempts a forced rescue operation, the hostages return in coffins.”
This statement came after Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza last week when the first phase of the ceasefire ended. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which is controlled by Hamas, at least 830 Palestinians have been killed since Israel restarted its military offensive.
Israel’s Warning: Possible Land Seizure
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded strongly to Hamas’s threats. He warned that if Hamas does not release all the remaining hostages, Israel will take control of parts of Gaza. Speaking in the Israeli Parliament, Netanyahu said, “The more Hamas refuses to release our hostages, the more pressure we will apply.” He further added, “This includes seizing territory and other measures that I will not mention here.”
A few days later, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant echoed Netanyahu’s statement, saying, “The longer Hamas delays the hostage release, the more land it will lose to Israeli forces.” This indicates that Israel is considering expanding its military operations inside Gaza.
Unprecedented Protests Against Hamas in Gaza
In a rare and surprising event, hundreds of Palestinians took to the streets in northern Gaza on Wednesday to protest against Hamas. The protesters, mostly men, chanted slogans like “Hamas Out” and “Hamas is a terrorist organization.”
This protest took place in Beit Lahia, just a week after Israel intensified its airstrikes in Gaza. Many residents, exhausted by war and suffering, gathered to demand an end to the conflict. One protester, Mohammad, told AFP, “I don’t know who organized this protest. I joined because I wanted to send a message from the people: ‘No more war.’”
However, Hamas security forces, dressed in civilian clothes, were reportedly seen breaking up the protest.
The situation remains tense, with both Israel and Hamas refusing to back down. Hamas is using hostages as leverage, while Israel is increasing military pressure to secure their release. At the same time, rare protests from Palestinian civilians suggest growing frustration with Hamas’s leadership.
As the conflict continues, the biggest concern remains the fate of the hostages and the increasing number of civilian casualties on both sides.
