The mother who adopted a three-day-old orphan girl and loved her more than her own life, educated her, taught her the difference between good and bad, the same daughter killed her mother. Know the whole story?

Odisha News:-Can you imagine a daughter killing the same mother who gave her a second chance at life? A mother who picked up a 3-day-old orphaned baby, raised her with love, gave her everything she had, educated her, and helped her stand on her own feet—only to be murdered by the very same girl. This chilling incident from Paralakhemundi, Odisha, has left everyone shocked.
This is the heartbreaking story of 54-year-old Rajalakshmi, who adopted a newborn baby girl and raised her like her own flesh and blood. She gave her daughter not just shelter, food, and education, but also love, care, and values. For years, Rajalakshmi tried to give her daughter the best life possible. But fate had something else in store.
A Well-Planned Murder by Her Own Daughter
According to the police, on the night of April 29, the daughter made a plan to kill her mother. She gave Rajalakshmi sleeping pills, and once she fell unconscious, the daughter—with the help of her two male friends—suffocated her mother using a pillow.
But why? Why would someone commit such a horrifying act?
The Shocking Motive: Love Affairs and Property
Police investigations revealed that Rajalakshmi had opposed her daughter’s relationships with the two boys involved. Not just that, the daughter also wanted to take control of her mother’s property. This opposition fueled anger and frustration among the trio, leading them to plan and execute the brutal murder.
After the murder, the group tried to cover it up by claiming Rajalakshmi died of a heart attack. Since she had a history of heart disease, nobody suspected foul play. Her last rites were performed in Bhubaneswar, and the family believed it was a natural death.
The Truth Uncovered by a Hidden Phone
But as the saying goes, “No matter how clever a crime, the truth eventually comes out.” A few days later, Rajalakshmi’s brother Siba Prasad Mishra found a hidden mobile phone belonging to the daughter. Inside, he discovered Instagram chats and screenshots where the murder was being discussed. The chats revealed details about the planning, stealing of gold jewelry, and money sharing.
On May 8, Mishra filed a formal police complaint at Paralakhemundi Police Station. Acting swiftly, the police arrested all three accused, who confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Gold, Money, and a New Bike
Before the murder, the daughter had already handed over some of her mother’s gold jewelry to one of the boys, Ganesh, who pawned it for ₹2.4 lakh. He then used the money to buy a new motorcycle. Police have recovered three mobile phones, 30 grams of gold, and other evidence during the investigation.
Police Assures Justice
Gajapati district SP Jatindra Kumar Panda confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway. He assured that strict legal action will be taken against all the accused.
