Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Date Jihad:-After “love jihad” and “spit jihad”, now “date jihad” is being discussed on social media. This new controversy has attracted people’s attention, especially when spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar made a big claim about this. He said that in some places the date seed is being taken out by mouth, and it is being called “date halal”.

Sri Sri Ravishankar’s claim

Referring to a video, Sri Sri Ravishankar said that he has seen some people in the factory taking out the seed by chewing dates with their mouth. He said, “They are taking out the date seed after so much chewing… there is a line in the factory. People are taking out the date seed with their mouth and leaving it.” After hearing this, he called it “date halal” and called it a wrong practice. Sri Sri advised people to never touch a date from which the seed has been taken out.

Reaction on social media
After this statement of Sri Sri Ravishankar, reactions started coming rapidly on social media. Many videos have surfaced, in which people are seen peeling dates with their mouths. However, what this controversy is and what is the matter behind it is not yet completely clear, but people are expressing strong displeasure over this act.

Connection of dates and halal
Dates are mainly grown in Muslim countries, and this controversy started when it was claimed that if “halal” is written on the packet of dates, it may mean that it has been “halaled by mouth”. On this issue, retired IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh has also warned people by sharing Sri Sri Ravishankar’s video.

This controversy has also raised questions on religious and cultural perceptions, and many people are linking it to religious sentiments. However, any clear investigation or official statement is still awaited on this issue.
